Thomas Carson Latzak
December 29, 1928 - March 19, 2013
Tybee Island - Thomas Carson Latzak, 84, died March 19, 2013 at Hospice Savannah. He was native of Bulloch County and the grandson of John Luke Latzak, a native of Poland.
After graduation from Nevils High School, Thomas joined the United States Air Force serving in 1946 and '47, during the occupational period. Later in 1951 and '52, he served in the US Signal Corps. He then attended Armstrong in Savannah and Georgia Tech in Atlanta where he pursued an Industrial Engineering course. He was a licensed radio engineer, worked at American Cyanamid in Savannah and as an engineer at WTOC. After moving to Tybee, he was a dedicated volunteer in the early beginning of Tybee Museum.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, the former Margaret Hodges Holloway, a brother, J.D. Latzak, of Greenville, GA, a sister, Fay Nease and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2013 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. A private burial will follow in the Holy Cross Section of Catholic Cemetery.
